ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview:
The position of Business Development Manager, Insurance is a key market development and revenue generating role within Australia & New Zealand.

This is a pivotal role which requires the ability to articulate and manage my clients value proposition, with the support from global practices, across the Australia & New Zealand geography. The role plays a key part in contributing to the success of the small local business development team.

The role requires close coordination with key staff across the global organisation, specifically within the Indian team, Insurance Services practice, and other units.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education:
Tertiary qualifications in Insurance, finance, engineering, computer science or related disciplines, possibly an MBA or other business related postgraduate accreditation.

Experience/Knowledge:
Ideally, the Business Development Manager will have a strong industry background and an IT consulting background. Importantly, candidates must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues and challenges (particularly those involving technology-based solutions in highly complex business and market environments) associated with managing large high profile business enterprises across a range of segments within the Insurance services sector.

To be successful candidates must demonstrate the following:
Consultative sales ability & strategic selling skills in a large corporate environment
Demonstrable and significant sales achievement
Broad IT background.
Previous experience working in a Insurance vertical area. It is desirable if the candidate has sound knowledge of business issues in general and commercial insurance services.
Experience in providing value propositions to customers that connect business & IT.
Proven track record in the development and implementation of significant change management strategies, particularly as they apply to IT issues.
Ability to introduce new systems and processes and an appreciation of the linkages between new technology and business development concepts and strategies.
Empathy for working in highly complex/mature and emerging business environments.
Experience in managing large-scale, highly complex, technology-based solutions through the approval process in large, hierarchical organisations.
Presentation and communication skills to business and technical customers
Proven ability to engage with, and knowledge of, third party alliances

Specific Skills:
Analytical and strategic planning skills to enable provision of high level advice at divisional and executive management levels.
Good listener.
Effective communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills.
Skilled at fostering and managing long-term client relationships (ie able to work up and down and side to side within an organisation in business and IT).
Outstanding written and oral skills and an ability to present confidently to both small and large groups at all levels.
Proven commercial, negotiation and representation capacity.
Able to negotiate and close contractual agreements.
Ability to build and grow the business in a professional consulting/business context.
Able to maintain business development activity across a diverse solutions portfolio and territory while maintaining clear focus and structure.
